The future mission critical systems need to be easy to navigate, effective and able to create an overview.
Even within specialized industries, the users set demands to high quality and value creating design. The traditional systems and user interfaces are on their way out, and new tendencies are creating their way in the users mind. The users are grown up with I-Phones and tablets and intuitive design and they have high expectations to the products and services they use, In relation to the launch of a new product, Terma wanted to create a more user-friendly direction for their design.
Terma is the biggest forsvarsvirksomhed in Denmark and are leading within the radar and mission critical technologies. Terma works continuously by being ahead with new technological solutions, but as in many other industries, the user and customer needs are changing in line with trends on the digital area. There was moreover a desire from Terma’s perspective to raise the recognition of products and brand positioning due to export markets.
Terma was ahead of developing new digital solutions to a new segment within the maritime area. For this reason they contacted Little Studio and Zimplifi to advice on these challenges and design the new direction.
PROCESS
Zimplifi og Little Studio belives in agile design development, working in fast loops and iterations in cooperation with users, customers, stakeholders and Terma as a company. Based on trend and user research, we developed the future design direction for concrete digital solutions and user interfaces.
With focus on users, the core of the product and value, design & brand concepts and principles for a digital design direction was identified and developed. To ensure the right direction, a common prototype with focus on interaction structure was developed and tried out. With continuously feedback the design direction was developed with focus on structure, graphical expression and lay – out.
When we selected design principles, we focused on graphical visualisation and pictures, so the design became as intuitive as possible. The design concept was fine-tuned, so the product has a strong expression due to logo and brand, and thereby related Terma even closer without compromising the professional expression.
Due to the final prototype – Little Studio and Zimplifi developed a demo video for sales promotion on exhibitions. The purpose was to show customers the future system and solution on a more interactive and involving way – bot the strengthen the sales potential and the future system.
